Where the demo lives
Before the Steam release on September 21, 2026, IGTAP existed as a free browser demo. Two builds are still available: the main demo at galaxy.click/play/694, posted February 20, 2026 under the developer name Varii, and "igtap but patched" on the developer's itch.io page. Both play in a browser with no download.
The galaxy.click listing accumulated more than 3,600 plays and 4,300 total play-hours, with a 4.4 average from 162 ratings. Its comment thread doubles as a patch-note archaeology site, because the developer replied directly to player bug reports and questions there throughout the demo period.

What the demo includes
The demo teaches the full core loop. You run numbered platforming courses, and finishing one shows a settlement panel with your reward in watts, a clone reward multiplier of 0.1x, your best time and a clone count. Your recorded route becomes an orange path that clones replay automatically, generating power while you explore or optimise.
Progression in the demo includes upgrade kiosks for base reward, more clones, clone reward multiplier, and chances for clones to gain speed or size tiers. Movement abilities unlock in sequence: wall jump first, then dash and double jump, each opening faster routes through earlier courses. Secret bonus upgrades are hidden around the map, and a red statue room offers global boosts such as awakening the statue's power and raising the maximum clone speed tier.
A player-visible goal caps the demo: a kiosk offering to "complete the demo" for a huge sum in the Pw range. Community members warned that buying the final demo upgrade resets course times and forces you to redo courses largely in the dark for much higher watt gain, an intentional endgame twist rather than a bug.

Demo updates: the June 2026 changes
The galaxy.click build was updated repeatedly, with the latest logged update on June 7, 2026 adding three significant changes: course 5 integrated into main progression, a platforming physics rework, and an additional prestige layer. Speedrunners reference a "June 5 2026 version" boundary in community video titles, such as an all-glitches run labelled as pre-June 5 2026, which suggests the demo's final changes meaningfully altered routes and tricks. These dates come from the galaxy.click page and community video titles rather than an official changelog.
Earlier in the demo's life, a developer reply clarified that course 5 "is not really part of the demo" in the original build, and that the end-of-demo upgrade box is normally where the block polarity swap would go. Players who found course 5 early discovered it was not completable without abilities the demo never granted.
The demo in the speedrun community
The demo became a speedrunning target in its own right. speedrun.com/IGTAP hosts demo categories alongside full-game runs, and community videos show a Demo Any% time of 28:29.88 and runs in the thirty-minute range from the demo era. As always, these times are what community video titles show, not officially certified records.
The demo's tech discoveries fed directly into the full game's community: dash-jumps, dash wall jumps that launch you straight up when timed as the dash touches a wall, and jump-dash momentum cancels were all documented by players in the demo's comment threads before release.

Demo versus the full Steam game
The demo is generous but partial. The Steam release extends the structure well past the demo's ending tunnel with additional progression layers, the Vman courses referenced by achievements, atoms and the upgrade tree, teleporters, zip movers, refresh orbs, the omni-dash and an escape-the-facility endgame. Saving is the other big difference: the developer's note on galaxy.click says save and load only works on the Steam version.
Some community members call the post-release hard content the "B-Side demo"; its official status is unconfirmed, but videos and itch.io comments describe it as a high-difficulty extension of the same courses.
