What the Steam page documents
The IGTAP store page declares Full Controller Support, with both Xbox Controllers and PlayStation Controllers explicitly listed in the controller category section. "Controller" also appears among the game's popular user-defined tags, alongside Incremental, Precision Platformer and Automation, which tells you the community expects a gamepad to be a normal way to play.
Full Controller Support in Steam's vocabulary means the game can be launched and played without touching a mouse and keyboard, including menus and prompts. For a game like IGTAP that alternates between precision platforming courses and menu-heavy upgrade kiosks, that declaration matters: you should be able to record clone routes, buy upgrades at kiosks and navigate the course selection without swapping input devices.

Where the official documentation stops
Be aware of the honest gaps. Neither the store page nor any developer post we can verify publishes a default button map for gamepads, so we cannot tell you which face button dashes or jumps without inventing details we do not have. Our controls guide covers what is known about the keyboard defaults; the equivalent per-button gamepad table simply is not documented in public sources as of September 2026.
Steam Deck compatibility is also listed as Unknown on the store page. The game's system requirements are modest (Windows 10, 2GHz processor, 2 GB RAM, 800 MB storage), so there is no obvious technical barrier, but Valve has not published a verified Deck rating and we found no official statement either way. Deck owners should treat full-gamepad play on SteamOS as plausible but unconfirmed.

Controller support in the free browser builds
The free web demo (playable at galaxy.click/play/694 and on the developer's itch.io page) is a separate build from the Steam release. The only controller-related player reports we found for the web build come from mobile players whose connected gamepads were not recognised, and the browser build's documented default for dash was tied to the Shift key rather than a pad button. Whether desktop browsers with a connected gamepad work in the web demo is not documented; if gamepad play matters to you, the Steam version is the build with an explicit support declaration.

Remapping and Steam Input advice
If the default pad layout does not suit you, remapping is your friend, and there are two layers where it can happen:
- In-game options: community threads show players rebinding actions such as the dash directly in the game, so an in-game remapping route exists at least for key actions.
- Steam's own controller configuration: right-click IGTAP in your library, open Controller settings, and use Steam's layout editor for Xbox or PlayStation pads. This is standard Steam functionality and applies to any game with controller support.
One IGTAP-specific reason to care: the movement kit changes over the course of a run. The dash arrives early (achievement "Spintap"), the double jump later ("Jump, but again."), and the late-game omni-dash ("All angle igtap") puts the dash on eight directions. Since Hotfix #2 of September 22, 2026, the omni-dash box is a toggle that can cost you a jump, so if your muscle memory breaks mid-run, check that box before blaming your pad. If inputs seem dead rather than merely remapped, see our dash troubleshooting page for the unlock and save-corruption causes the community has confirmed.

If your controller is not detected
There is no verified IGTAP-specific gamepad bug on the Steam release in the sources we checked, so an undetected controller is most likely a system or Steam-level issue. Work through these generic isolation steps:
- Quit IGTAP, connect the pad before launching, and start the game again; some setups only poll for devices at startup.
- Test the pad in Steam Big Picture mode or another game to confirm the controller itself is recognised by your system.
- Check the per-game Controller settings for IGTAP in your Steam library and make sure Steam Input is enabled for your pad type.
- If you are on Bluetooth, try a wired connection to rule out pairing problems.
- Confirm your pad firmware and Steam client are up to date, then retest.
If the pad works everywhere except IGTAP, that is worth reporting as a game bug rather than a hardware issue.
Reporting input problems to the developer
The developer, Varii of Pepper Tango Games, runs a dedicated bug report thread on the Steam Community Hub and asked players to submit issues there with a platform, replication steps and a detailed description; the same hub carries the hotfix announcements and shows the developer responding directly to reviews. When reporting a controller issue, include your pad model, connection type (wired or Bluetooth), operating system, whether the problem affects menus, gameplay or both, and whether keyboard input still works. That level of detail matches what the developer has asked for and gives an input bug the best chance of being reproduced and fixed.
