Beyond the facility walls

For almost your entire IGTAP playthrough, the world is an industrial facility: courses threaded with spikes, thorn vines, and giant fans; kiosks that convert watts into clones and upgrades; and a red statue room humming with late-game power. The game's hidden bonus area breaks that pattern completely. Get out of the facility and you reach a dark, overgrown garden — a vine-choked environment captured in official Steam screenshots that looks nothing like the optimized machine you have been running.

This zone is not decoration. The achievement The greatest adventure is what lies ahead is awarded simply for escaping the facility, and only 5.4% of Steam players have earned it, which places the bonus area firmly in late-game territory. It is rarer than finishing the main game outright: You win! sits at 28.0%.

What the escape achievement tells us

The achievement's name and description do most of the storytelling. "The greatest adventure is what lies ahead" frames the escape as a beginning rather than an ending, and the garden's visual design — darkness, vegetation reclaiming structure — suggests what the facility was built against or built over.

IGTAP keeps its lore environmental rather than explicit, and player comments on the free web build praised exactly that approach, comparing the game's "explore to understand" storytelling to Dark Souls and asking for more of it around the giant sculptures and the facility's purpose. The bonus area is the strongest piece of evidence that there is a world outside the incremental loop.

Because escaping is gated behind an achievement rather than announced in-game, many players finish their first run without ever seeing it. If you want the garden on your save file, you need to treat the escape as a deliberate objective.

The garden area itself

Official screenshots show a dim exterior zone dominated by thick vines and organic shapes, a tonal shift from the facility's clean hazards and glowing upgrade kiosks. The area reads as an exploration space first and a production space second: there is no evidence in official materials that the clone-and-watt loop extends out here in the same way it does inside.

Community coverage treats the zone as a genuine challenge to complete rather than a short cutscene. Lazy's video "I Finally Beat The BONUS AREA in IGTAP" — the word "finally" doing a lot of work — documents a full clear of the area, confirming that there is something to beat and not merely something to see.

Precise layout details, rewards, and hazards specific to the garden are not officially documented, and this wiki does not publish step-by-step routes. What can be said confidently: it exists, it is reachable, it is dark and overgrown, and completing it is a recognized community milestone.

Bonus area versus bonus level

Players sometimes blur two pieces of hidden content together, so it is worth separating them. The bonus area covered here is the outside-the-facility garden tied to the escape achievement. The bonus level is separate community-documented content — videos like "IGTAP Level 5 (Secret Level)", "IGTAP HOW TO DO THE SECRET LEVEL", and "IGTAP bonus lvl" describe an extra challenge course, not the garden.

Both are hidden, both appear in community videos, and both are covered on their own pages in this section of the wiki. The B-Side is a third, distinct piece of extra content that the community describes as a harder challenge set; its official status is unconfirmed.

How to prepare before you escape

The escape sits at the end of a progression chain, so arriving under-equipped wastes the trip. Before heading for the exit, community experience suggests you should have the full movement toolkit: wall jump, dash, double jump, block polarity swap, teleporters, zip movers, and the omni-dash — every one of which has its own Steam achievement, so your achievement list doubles as a readiness checklist.

Production matters too. The late facility content around the red statue room — including the kiosk that awakens the statue's power and the global clone speed tier upgrade — is priced in the hundreds of megawatts to gigawatts range in official screenshots, so by the time you can afford that tier of upgrade you are, by definition, strong enough for whatever the exit demands.

If you would rather follow someone else's route, watch a bonus area clear first and then attempt it yourself. And if the garden leaves you wanting more hidden content, the secret upgrades and the bonus level pages are the natural next stops.
